Dr. Valentín Fuster has just presented his new book, “Siempre adelante,” in which he shares his vital learnings and his transcendental research on the causes of heart attacks, which revolutionized global cardiovascular health. The Government of the Dominican Republic has awarded the Order of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella to Dr. Valentín Fuster, president of the SHE Foundation, Director General of the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC), and president of the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital in New York.
During the ceremony, held on Saturday, October 18, the Minister of Public Health, Víctor Atallah, emphasized that the recognition was bestowed upon Dr. Fuster for “inspiring generations to serve with humility, knowledge, and love for life.”
The Order of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella is the highest distinction of merit conferred by the Dominican Republic. This award is reserved for individuals who have provided eminent services to the country and demonstrated exceptional merit. It recognizes those who have made a notable contribution to the progress of humanity and have led scientific advances of great international impact.

During his visit to Cyprus, Dr. Valentín Fuster, president of the SHE Foundation, General Director of the Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC), President of the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, and Physician-in-Chief at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, was honored with the Presidential Honorary Award by President Nikos Christodoulides in recognition of his global leadership in cardiovascular health.
In addition, the European University of Cyprus awarded him with a Doctor Honoris Causa, which is reserved for individuals whose scientific achievements and dedication have had a “profound impact” on society.
As part of the visit, Dr. Fuster gave a keynote address at the 13th International Medical Congress, where he discussed advances in cardiovascular prevention and innovation.
These awards highlight his commitment to research, education, and improving global health.
